Sylvia Montalti started working in 1979
as a production assistant before becoming an assistant director.
Her language skills (mother tongue French, plus fluent German,
English and Italian) have enabled her to work as Production
Manager and Line Producer for many European companies including
MK2 Production (“L’ombre rouge” by J.L.
Comolli), Les Producteurs Associés (“For those
I loved” by R. Enrico), Garance Production (“Parking”
by J. Demy) and Bavaria Munich (“The boat” by
W. Petersen).
In 1987, Sylvia opened her own production
company, Torii Production, in Paris, working as producer and/or
executive producer on over 15 films for cinema and television,
including “Salt on our skin” by A. Birkin, “Un
cane sciolto” by G. Capitani and “Laura and Luis“
by F. Strecker.
From 1994 to 2001, she was responsible
for the development of Italo-French co-productions for cinema
and television at UFA International Film & TV Production
(Bertelsmann Group) in Berlin.
In 2000, she was responsible for UFA's production of the opera
"Turandot", directed by Zhang Yimou and filmed entirely
in Peking.
Since 2001, she has been working as a consultant to production
companies in various European countries, including Italy (Sintra,
Star Group), France (UGC, Lagardere Images, Renn Production)
and Germany (TV 60 Filmproduktion, Patrola Films). She has
also worked as a consultant for state organisations (tax shelter,
regional and European funding).
